Shooting for the Stars

It’s Sunday, and everyone loves a relaxing lazy Sunday right? Well, this week I hate Sunday because I have been off work all week on ‘holiday’ although I haven’t actually been that far. But Sunday means I’m back in work tomorrow, the dreaded Monday morning.

This evening I’m going to enjoy a nice relaxing bath filled with lush goodies and when thinking about that note I wanted to share with you how much I enjoyed using my Shooting for the Stars bath bomb that came in my Night Before Christmas gift box off my Sister.

It’s a honey-scented bath bomb, with a hint of Brazilian orange which sounds right up my street. It’s a lovely deep blue colour with the golden sparkling stars throughout which come away from the blue once it is submerged in water, because these are sweet little bath melts in the form of cocoa butter and gold glitter. Could this be any more perfect to warm you up on a cold winter’s night? I don’t think so.

It leaves the bath water a lovely glistening blue with all the shimmers you could imagine, whilst the bath melts leave your skin wonderfully silky and soft and slightly shimmery once you get out! But that’s just part of the fun.

All in all, I loved this little beauty and just wished I’d used it earlier so I could pick some up before the Christmas range came to an end.

What’s your favourite piece from Lush’s Christmas range this year? I’d love to hear all about it!

Lush Haul – Christmas Gifts

I was super lucky and received a hell of a lot of Lush goodies for Christmas this year, some I had tried others I have wanted for a while and just not got round to picking them up from my local Lush store. Today, I just thought it would be nice to share with you what I received.

Snow Fairy has been my ultimate favourite since the first time a picked it up a couple of years back, and I was lucky enough to be gifted two bottles this year. One 1kg bottle, and one 100g bottle, perfect for travelling, I’m definitely not going to run out for a while. I also received Rose Jam shower gel and Fairy Dust, both in 100g bottles.

I’ve never really gotten around to using any of Lush’s lib scrub, a lot of people use these before applying a matte lipstick to stop your lips from getting dry and cracked. This year I was given Bubblegum, and Santa’s lip scrub so I have no excuse not to exfoliate my lips now. Silky smooth lips for me.

My sister treated me to the Night before Christmas gift set. Which includes a bath bomb and a bath melt. Shooting for the Stars and Snow Angel. I’ve never used either of these before, Snow Angel is very glittery and I love a little bit of sparkle in my life so I can’t wait to use this! Shooting for the Stars is a honey scented bath bomb, with a hint of Brazilian orange which sounds lush. I love fruity scents, so this one is definitely for me.

I also have wanted to try the Experimenter after seeing lots of people post about it on blogs, and social media so I can’t wait to see the ray of colours it leaves my bath water.

When I attended a Lush event a couple of years ago (read about it here) we were shown what Stardust is like when you emerge it in water, all of the stars *insert heart eye emoji here* and when I found out it was being re-released as a Christmas edition again this year. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it, so I asked my Dad for it on my Christmas list this year along with Intergalactic.

I am so excited to start using these, I have been holding off until I had pictures for this blog post so now I can go nuts!

Top 5 of 2016

First things first, I’d like to wish you all a very happy new year! I hope you have enjoyed the holidays profusely my dears, because I definitely have.

I can’t really believe I’m writing this post already, the year has gone so quick. I just thought I’d share my 5 most popular posts of 2016. All together through out the year Dainty Dweeb has had 3,307 views, 1,304 visitors, 280 likes and 160 comments. Wow! A lot more than I thought, considering my blog is just a hobby it’s more than I could have imagined.

Inspirations for a Lifestyle Post

img_0503

When I wrote this post, little did I know it would become my most popular post of 2016, with 155 views and 100 likes. It just goes to show people prefer to read posts that you enjoy to write because I thoroughly enjoyed writing this. It was so much fun thinking of different things that can help inspire others to write a lifestyle post.

The Versatile Blogger Award

img_5002

Taking part in tag’s is always fun, you end up finding out things about other bloggers you never knew, whether is a personal tag or not they’re always fun to read! I was tagged in this by Hollie from It’s Hollie Ann and although I’ve known Hollie for years, we actually went to school together, I actually learnt something new about her from her post!

The Big Move

img_3707

I still remember the excitement I had when writing this post. I can’t believe Nathan and I have been in our home for nearly a year already. It only feels like we moved in a couple of months ago! Time flies and all that. I can tell you now, we’re still picking up bits that we need, like the other day I made boiled eggs for dippy soldiers for breakfast the other day and realised we had no egg cups. Yes, I did call it dippy soldiers, I’m still a kid at heart okay?

Primark Haul

img_0207

Ahhh, a good old Primark haul. Who doesn’t love to see what others pick up in the shops? All though I must say, all of my picks from this haul are stored away in my drawers now, as it’s a little cold to be wearing them at the moment!

Mini Drugstore Haul – The Aftermath

img_3930

All though I’ve never been much of a beauty blogger – I’m not the best with make up and I’d much rather chuck my hair up in a messy bun in the mornings. I am rather proud of how well this post did! Maybe, it will give me the confidence to toy around with beauty posts a little more this year? Who knows!

Well that’s it, my top five posts of this year. Sitting here cosy in bed, I can’t help but wonder what will be my top 5 posts of 2017?

Must Have Stocking Fillers – For Her

I would like to say that I have finished my Christmas shopping, but will I actually ever finish? I always seem to think I’ve finished, but then end up picking up extra bits for people when I don’t really need to.

I have to say, stocking fillers are my favourite thing to buy, little quirky things that you just know someone will love – especially if they’re meaningful. Today I’m going to share my must have stocking fillers for the lovely ladies in your life.

Oh K Nail File Duo | 2017 Botanical Diary | Faux Fur Pom Pom Hot Water Bottle | Keep Calm and Colour Mermaids | Makeup Revolution Iconic Nudes Brush Set | Pandora Cherry Blossom Stud Earrings

I have to admit, a few of these were on my Christmas list, but they’re so cute I thought I had to share them with you…

Secret Santa £5 and Under

The festive period is vastly approaching, and I thought I’d start whacking out the festive posts! Although unfortunately won’t be taking part in Blogmas, as there is just not enough hours in the day for me, I will be posting regular festive content leading up to the Christmas period.

What better way to start than with a gift guide? Secret Santa is something we are going to be taking part in, in work this year. We have set ourselves a limit of £5 so I have been scouring the shops for deals and thought I’d share my ideas with you guys!

Rudolph Heat Change Mug | Blooming Gorgeous Relaxing Bath Remedy | Nivea Lip Balm Tin | Flutter Wooden Frame | Soap & Glory Happy Pamper Gift Set

I thought it would be really hard to try and find a decent gift for £5 and under but after looking, I realised there’s a huge variety to chose from! Are you taking part in Secret Santa anywhere this year? I’d love to hear your ideas!

DIY Gift Ideas

So this year, I’ve decided that to save money on Christmas gift buying. I’m going down the DIY route, especially for gifts for the women in my family. I have already started making a few, and wanted to do a step by step DIY post on a couple. But then I realised I have a few family members that read my blog, and I wouldn’t want them to know what their gift was before Christmas.

So instead, I have decided to share a couple of idea’s which have inspired me along the way. That way I won’t be mentioning any names. I won’t be showing you an exact gift that I have made myself, and if said certain family members read this post, they won’t know exactly which ones are their own because the ones that I have made already are personalised with names etc.

I have to admit, Pinterest has been a life saver for DIY gift idea’s. Over the past few weeks it has been my best friend. So here we go!

Make your own candles

35b8f9f515e335f4694a38d78830c3d6

I got this idea from this pin, and then the step-by-step how to from Something Turquoise. You can easily get all of the supplies online, including a Christmassy scent. I like the idea of making the candles in vintage cups instead of mason jars and I’m sure 99% of the women in my life love candles.

 Multi photo frame

img_5342

So, I have had this idea in mind for ages and not had the chance to make it. Here is the pin which inspired me. I haven’t really found a step-by-step how to on this, so I just winged it. I bought all of my supplies from my local Wilkinsons store for like £10. I picked up some white enamel spray paint (which I go ID’ed for!), a plain wooden photo frame, some string and craft pegs.

First of all I took the glass and back out of the photo frame and sprayed all of the exterior of the frame white, left it to dry outside for around 20-30 minutes. Then measured the length of string to go from one side to the other, with a little excess and then tied the ends. There’s lots of ways you can fix the string to the frame, I chose to do it with small tack pins from the back of the frame to make it look neater. Then all you need to do is hang your chosen pictures with pegs! You can add little bits of decor on the frame to make it a little more personal. The one above is one that I am making for our house.

Gifts in a jar

If you search gifts in a jar on Pinterest, hundreds of different idea’s pop up. From food goodies to hot chocolate in a jar. There are so many different things that you put in a jar as a cute little gift for someone.

I think I’m going to go along with a Spa in a Jar idea (like here), where I’ll pick up some jar’s and pop along to places such as Superdrug and Boots, take advantage of offers such as 3 for 2 to get some travel sized items to fill them and then get hold of some cute decorative bits to give them more of a personal touch.

You can always look online on ways to create your own bath bombs, soaps etc if you’d like to go homemade with the products you fill your pamper jar with!

Wooden family tree frame

I have seen these everywhere lately, I thought it’d be cheaper to make my own than pay £25+ for one. So that’s what I did, I ordered the wooden tree cut out, along with some hearts. I then had a look around the pound shops in my local town to get some buttons and ribbons to add to it to make it a little more creative. I picked the frame to mount it from Wilkinsons when I picked up my things for the multi photo frame, and some superglue to attach it all together.

Are you becoming a craft elf this year? If so share your idea’s and inspiration with me, I’d love to hear. You can either drop a comment below or tweet me!

Sunday Thoughts #21

I’M BACK… Or I will be, yesterday late afternoon/evening I spent the whoooole time getting back on the blogging wagon. This is going to happen, even if it kills me. I miss my blogging bubble so much, it hurts. So I have been making copious amounts of to-do lists, mind mapping new idea’s and finally post writing! YAY!

I feel like I finally have my mojo back, and hopefully weather permitting I am going to be able to take some blog photo’s in the evenings this week along with finishing off half written posts and proofreading, lets get this show on the road.

This week has seen me kicking a lot of ass, I have been time managing pretty well and actually getting things done. I have been liaising with the lovely Geeta to have a sparkly brand new blog header coming your way at the end of the month who is doing an amazing job for me. Highly recommend.

I have finally booked the train tickets for our weekend in London this coming weekend, we’re going to my brother’s birthday because he want’s to go all tourist-y and see the sights of London so I’m totally looking forward to that. My brother absolutely loves trains so although I am dreading the train journey at 6am Saturday morning he is absolutely buzzing for it! If you have any book recommendations please throw them my way! I need something to kill the time.

Mel and I decided to opt for a take away pizza and chill out on her sofa, with her overly sized Labrador, Alfie on Thursday evening after work. It was absolutely delightful. She just get’s me which is something I absolutely love about her, I don’t have to justify anything I say to her – which is how a friendship should be. Oh, and who knew Tesco does cooked pizza to take away? Not me. Obviously, I do now. Mel has shown me the art that is Tesco’s take away pizza’s for LESS than £4. Have I been living in the stone ages or something?

Work has been draining, I have been speaking to new clients everyday so it has been fun and interesting but it is also very time consuming. I love to hear about peoples business and how they work to help others but it’s also very mind draining trying to remember and make the correct notes for our benefits, especially when you know you have a 12 hour day ahead of you – yay for being too kind and covering peoples over time last minute on a Friday when I should have been indulging in beer and fish and chips in the company meeting. Yes, you did read that right beer AND fish and chips in company meetings. I am working for the best company. Also, our newsletter came in the form of a newspaper. How cool?

Oh, and the last thing I have to tell you is I perfected the ultimate autumn eye make up yesterday. Winged eyeliner and all, but forgot to take a selfie, what a shambles. I have no proof, so you’ll just have to trust me because I can promise you now that I will not be able to perfect it the second time round. I am also really sad that I still cannot manage to pull off the berry and vampy coloured lipsticks that I have horded ready for autumn. Help, please?

I hope y’all are having a wonderful week, filled with layers and pumpkin spiced lattes.

Frozen – Lush Bathbomb Review

I have found a new Lush favourite, I was bought it by a friend for my birthday. It’s sparkly and although it makes me feel more like a mermaid than a snow queen, it does exactly what it says on the tin – or bag?

It looks exactly how you would imagine a Frozen inspirited bath bomb to look, and icy blue with a darker blue band around the middle. It is coated with a slight layer of lustre which leave a beautiful shine in the water.

img_5034
“Do you want to have a bath bomb? Do you want to splash and play? Enjoy the most magical soak in the kingdom with this shimmering blue bath bomb, which spills out rolling snowdrifts of silver lustre. Uplifting neroli from Tunisia and precious rose oil from Turkey are sure to spread a little sunshine and melt the iciest of moods. If your day’s felt like a series of doors in your face, this shiny, sky blue bomb filled with sparkle provides the perfect fairytale ending. Step in, take a deep breath and let it go.”

img_5057

As all other bath bombs I’ve tried from the fairyland which is a Lush store, it 100% relaxed me from head to toe after a long day of shopping with my mum, which is quiet possibly the most stressful thing I have ever experienced. It’s smells beautiful and very sweet – which I wasn’t expecting. It leaves the water a crystal icy blue, with all of the shimmers you could think of.

But psssst…make sure you rinse the tub as it leaves the bottom a pearlescent colour after you pull the plug.

Sparkling Teeth : Whitening Toothpaste Review

So around two months ago I bought a whitening toothpaste from one of the girls in work. She started her own little business venture with a company called NuSkin. I bought it because so many people seemed to be raving about how well it works and to be completely honest I was a little skeptical at first. I always have been with things like this, but I thought why don’t I give it a go? I’ve not really got a lot to loose. So I dived in and asked if she had any available, it turns out she did and she brought it into work. As soon as I got home I was dying to see what it was like, the smell is so minty that it’s refreshing – like any other toothpaste I hear you say. Well yes, you use it like every other toothpaste, in the morning and in the evening. It says on the instructions that you can use it in between meals if you’re looking for your result quicker.

Here’s what the product promises:

  • Brightens and whitens teeth
  • Helps remove stains
  • Helps remove and prevent plaque build up
  • Helps the prevention of dental cavities
  • Provides a long-lasting smooth, clean, and fresh feel
  • Features AP-24, an exclusive ingredient
  • Refreshing, trademark vanilla mint flavour
  • Thick, creamy, rich formula
  • No harmful peroxides

I starting using it every morning and evening just like I would any other toothpaste and I noticed a change within a matter of days, I was so surprised. I’ve carried on using it as normal, because I absolutely love it. For £10, It comes in a 110g tube which has lasted me well, it’s only just running out – a little definitely goes a long way with this product!

Many whitening toothpastes contain peroxide, a chemical that bleaches your teeth, which can weaken tooth enamel. Peroxides should only be used in a professional atmosphere. This product does not contain peroxide. Neither does it contain harsh abrasives − they remove stains, but erode and scratch teeth.

img_4857
Anyway after being so impressed, I had a little chat with the girl I bought it off and she asked if I would be interested in joining her team . I said I’d go away and think about it because I have quite a lot going on already with writing for my blog, keeping up a full time job and all of the other nessecities in life. After much consideration I have decided to go ahead and join! So now I am selling this exact toothpaste, along side many other products like Green Tea tablets, Mud Masks, contouring Lip Gloss and much more! I cant wait to try out a few of the other products, especially the Mud Masks – they seem to work wonders in accordance to others. If you have any questions or would like to know more about products, or even to sign up and be a part of my team feel free to email me at kaylajayne143@gmail.com

Barry M Nailed It!

Whenever I’m looking to purchase a new nail varnish I always end up by the Barry M stand in my local drugstore. Since I can remember I have pretty much always used Barry M on my nails, purely because they’re so affordable and such great quality.

Basically, I just thought I’d take the time out to show you my new nail varnishes – because I’m awesome like that! When I went and made the purchase there was a deal on, something like spend over X amount and get a free bronzer. I’m such a bargain hunter so I absolutely loved it! I planned on just picking up one – maybe two but ended up walking out of the shop with 4 and a free bronzer!

img_0345-1img_0349img_0350img_0351
The first is my favourite, Molten Metal in the shade Copper Mine it’s a gorgeous shimmering copper colour which all in all was one that I took the plunge with because although I loved the colour in the bottle I didn’t know whether I’d love it as much on my nails. But let me tell you, I do! After that we have the Sunset – Daylight Curing in Fuchsia Generation, I’m not usually one for bright colours, especially pink but this one is gorgeous. Third we have Nail Paint in the shade Vintage Voilet which is a deep violet which is nice don’t get me wrong but I haven’t fallen head over heels with it like I thought I would. Last but not least is on top with Copper Mine, it’s another Sunset – Daylight Curing in Dark Side of the Shroom, although it’s pretty similar to Vintage Violet I prefer this one because it’s a gorgeous mauve colour – totally me!

Whats your go to nail varnish at the moment?
