2018 Goals & Catch Up | Sunday Thoughts

I can’t actually quite believe that I’m writing this post already. It feels like only a couple of months ago I was working on my 2016 goals and now here we are.

P.S. I thought you might appreciate these pretty pictures of the snow.

For one, I would like to get a little more organised on the blogging front. I have been hiding under a blanket of real life for at least the last 6 months and slipped away from the blogging world, without reason not rhyme. Sometimes life just happens, right? Although I love my blog, I just haven’t had the motivation I need to actively write, photograph and edit regularly. I have some half written posts, some photographs without any written content and it’s all a little all over the place.

I have a little list of things I want to explore on my blog, and one with a big question mark next to it is more fashion posts. Fashion posts are something that I would absolutely love to get into, however I’m not very confident in the whole fashion post photos front. Which is something I need to overcome if I want to smash this goal. Any tips? Please feel free to tweet me or let me know in the comments.

Now, this isn’t something I’ve really spoken about at all on here previously. But I was in a car accident early last year, I wasn’t the most confident of drivers before-hand but the accident I was in just completely knocked me mentally more than anything. So one thing I want to work on this year is my driving anxiety. I have upcoming therapy and I am getting better day by day, but to just feel okay getting into the car would be a huge step.

Another huge goal for this year is to save, save, and save a little bit more. Nathan and I moved back in with family mid-2017. We want to be home owners, which involves getting a deposit together, and there was no chance of us saving the amount of money needed whilst renting. So here we are. I would like to get a decent chunk together before the end of 2018 if possible, which is resulting in working a lot of overtime and trying not to spend too much money on things which aren’t necessities.

I want 2018 to be the year I cut out the crap. I want to become a much healthier person. I’m not going to say no to unhealthy foods completely just cut down more and more each week, along with incorporating more healthy snacks into my diet. I also need to drink more water, I’ve started suffering with headaches in work and I think that’s a side effect of too much caffeine and not enough water. The only downside of drinking so much water, is having to pee every 15 minutes.

Anyway, I hope you guys are okay. I’m looking forward to getting back in to the swing of things with Dainty Dweeb. So, watch this space.

I’m Feeling 22!

Hi guys, remember me? A lot has happened in the last 4 months, but we’ll save that for another day. I have been meaning to get back into the swing of things for weeks now, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Until ping, something clicked and all of a sudden my motivation is back.

I thought I’d start with something simple and ease my way back into writing, so this may be a little bit of a ramble.

Whenever someone turns, or is turning 22, Taylor Swift always springs to mind – hence the cringy blog title. It’s so scary to think that it feels like just yesterday it was my 21st birthday, like it’s a pretty much a whole year since I was writing my Sunday Thoughts #12 post. I’ve been engaged for a whole year. Now that is crazy. We have no wedding plans as of yet, we’re saving for a mortgage deposit. We’re back living with Nathan’s parents for the mean time, trying to save as much as possible. The more the better.

If you were a regular ready before I decided to go on an unplanned break, you will know that mine and Nathan’s birthdays are one day after another. This year, we haven’t really done a lot in the way of celebrating. I think after last year, it has been nice to just chill. Although, we did have a few drinks with friends on the Saturday night so we were a little hung over on Nathan’s birthday, we had a nice lie in and chilled for the majority of the day. As bad as it sounds, it was nice to be hungover on his birthday and not mine for once. Monday, I spent the morning with mumma and afternoon with my Dad, Nathan took me out for a birthday Nando’s in the evening. It was a nice, chilled birthday.

Life’s been pretty mundane lately, along with the stress of moving house, so there isn’t a lot to report. However, I have been working behind the scenes on some new and exciting posts for you. So keep your eye’s peeled.

MY ANSWERS
  1. Favourite Shop? This ones definitely a tough cookie, what type of shop? Online or like an actual shop you can walk into? Clothes? Beauty? Food? The possibilities are endless. I’d have to say ASOS for online, because you can get pretty much anything! Actual shop, Lush just because of the smell, not to mention the amazing products.

I’ll get back to you on this one. After much consideration and discussion with Nathan apparently I do not have a weird habit. I feel a little sad about this now.
  4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? In my own home not private renting, with my little family. And a Dog. Preferably a tan jug named princess.

Top 5 of 2016

First things first, I’d like to wish you all a very happy new year! I hope you have enjoyed the holidays profusely my dears, because I definitely have.

I can’t really believe I’m writing this post already, the year has gone so quick. I just thought I’d share my 5 most popular posts of 2016. All together through out the year Dainty Dweeb has had 3,307 views, 1,304 visitors, 280 likes and 160 comments. Wow! A lot more than I thought, considering my blog is just a hobby it’s more than I could have imagined.

Inspirations for a Lifestyle Post

img_0503

When I wrote this post, little did I know it would become my most popular post of 2016, with 155 views and 100 likes. It just goes to show people prefer to read posts that you enjoy to write because I thoroughly enjoyed writing this. It was so much fun thinking of different things that can help inspire others to write a lifestyle post.

The Versatile Blogger Award

img_5002

Taking part in tag’s is always fun, you end up finding out things about other bloggers you never knew, whether is a personal tag or not they’re always fun to read! I was tagged in this by Hollie from It’s Hollie Ann and although I’ve known Hollie for years, we actually went to school together, I actually learnt something new about her from her post!

The Big Move

img_3707

I still remember the excitement I had when writing this post. I can’t believe Nathan and I have been in our home for nearly a year already. It only feels like we moved in a couple of months ago! Time flies and all that. I can tell you now, we’re still picking up bits that we need, like the other day I made boiled eggs for dippy soldiers for breakfast the other day and realised we had no egg cups. Yes, I did call it dippy soldiers, I’m still a kid at heart okay?

Primark Haul

img_0207

Ahhh, a good old Primark haul. Who doesn’t love to see what others pick up in the shops? All though I must say, all of my picks from this haul are stored away in my drawers now, as it’s a little cold to be wearing them at the moment!

Mini Drugstore Haul – The Aftermath

img_3930

All though I’ve never been much of a beauty blogger – I’m not the best with make up and I’d much rather chuck my hair up in a messy bun in the mornings. I am rather proud of how well this post did! Maybe, it will give me the confidence to toy around with beauty posts a little more this year? Who knows!

Well that’s it, my top five posts of this year. Sitting here cosy in bed, I can’t help but wonder what will be my top 5 posts of 2017?

Must Have Stocking Fillers – For Her

I would like to say that I have finished my Christmas shopping, but will I actually ever finish? I always seem to think I’ve finished, but then end up picking up extra bits for people when I don’t really need to.

I have to say, stocking fillers are my favourite thing to buy, little quirky things that you just know someone will love – especially if they’re meaningful. Today I’m going to share my must have stocking fillers for the lovely ladies in your life.

Oh K Nail File Duo | 2017 Botanical Diary | Faux Fur Pom Pom Hot Water Bottle | Keep Calm and Colour Mermaids | Makeup Revolution Iconic Nudes Brush Set | Pandora Cherry Blossom Stud Earrings

I have to admit, a few of these were on my Christmas list, but they’re so cute I thought I had to share them with you…

DIY Gift Ideas

So this year, I’ve decided that to save money on Christmas gift buying. I’m going down the DIY route, especially for gifts for the women in my family. I have already started making a few, and wanted to do a step by step DIY post on a couple. But then I realised I have a few family members that read my blog, and I wouldn’t want them to know what their gift was before Christmas.

So instead, I have decided to share a couple of idea’s which have inspired me along the way. That way I won’t be mentioning any names. I won’t be showing you an exact gift that I have made myself, and if said certain family members read this post, they won’t know exactly which ones are their own because the ones that I have made already are personalised with names etc.

I have to admit, Pinterest has been a life saver for DIY gift idea’s. Over the past few weeks it has been my best friend. So here we go!

Make your own candles

35b8f9f515e335f4694a38d78830c3d6

I got this idea from this pin, and then the step-by-step how to from Something Turquoise. You can easily get all of the supplies online, including a Christmassy scent. I like the idea of making the candles in vintage cups instead of mason jars and I’m sure 99% of the women in my life love candles.

 Multi photo frame

img_5342

So, I have had this idea in mind for ages and not had the chance to make it. Here is the pin which inspired me. I haven’t really found a step-by-step how to on this, so I just winged it. I bought all of my supplies from my local Wilkinsons store for like £10. I picked up some white enamel spray paint (which I go ID’ed for!), a plain wooden photo frame, some string and craft pegs.

First of all I took the glass and back out of the photo frame and sprayed all of the exterior of the frame white, left it to dry outside for around 20-30 minutes. Then measured the length of string to go from one side to the other, with a little excess and then tied the ends. There’s lots of ways you can fix the string to the frame, I chose to do it with small tack pins from the back of the frame to make it look neater. Then all you need to do is hang your chosen pictures with pegs! You can add little bits of decor on the frame to make it a little more personal. The one above is one that I am making for our house.

Gifts in a jar

If you search gifts in a jar on Pinterest, hundreds of different idea’s pop up. From food goodies to hot chocolate in a jar. There are so many different things that you put in a jar as a cute little gift for someone.

I think I’m going to go along with a Spa in a Jar idea (like here), where I’ll pick up some jar’s and pop along to places such as Superdrug and Boots, take advantage of offers such as 3 for 2 to get some travel sized items to fill them and then get hold of some cute decorative bits to give them more of a personal touch.

You can always look online on ways to create your own bath bombs, soaps etc if you’d like to go homemade with the products you fill your pamper jar with!

Wooden family tree frame

I have seen these everywhere lately, I thought it’d be cheaper to make my own than pay £25+ for one. So that’s what I did, I ordered the wooden tree cut out, along with some hearts. I then had a look around the pound shops in my local town to get some buttons and ribbons to add to it to make it a little more creative. I picked the frame to mount it from Wilkinsons when I picked up my things for the multi photo frame, and some superglue to attach it all together.

Are you becoming a craft elf this year? If so share your idea’s and inspiration with me, I’d love to hear. You can either drop a comment below or tweet me!

Sunday Thoughts #19

Happy Sunday! I can’t believe its October already, this year is going to fast. Autumn is my favourite season for fashion and beauty because of the colours. You can get away with getting dark colours, all day, everyday. Autumnal colours are beautiful, the colours of the leaves changing on the tree’s and the dark nights drawing in. There’s Halloween and Bonfire night to look forward too and layering is a thing again. I can dig out my big comfy jumpers and its an excuse to go and buy more! Pumpkin carving, and hot chocolates with all of the marshmallows.

I just love autumn, I love going for walks in the evening when the sun is setting and wearing scarfs and cute chunky ankle boots, dark lips are back in fashion – which are my favourite might I add. Although I can never pull it off, I still love a dark lippy.

I’ve been for 2 walks this week – both with my dad and little brother in the village that I grew up in. It’s lovely to get lost in the fields by the river and reminisce about childhood, talk about the future. I’d love to move back down their, and bring my own family up in the village my family has lived in for years. I grew up there, my dad grew up there, my grandparents – it would be lovely to be near my family again. Although it’s just a 20 minute drive from where I live now, there’s something about that village that I love.

img_5082

I haven’t really done much else this week, Saturday night Nathan and I ordered Chinese and watched copious amounts of Prison Break which is our new obsession. We’re on series 2, episode 7 in just over a week and I can’t believe we haven’t watched it sooner!

Today, I paid a visit to Primark and picked up a few bits for work – I only spent £44 and I picked up a dress, 2 tops, a skirt and some new flats before heading down to my dads for the afternoon. We’re planning a little trip to London which is going to be fun – my brother has never been past Liverpool on a train and he loves trains. We’re going purely to take my brother to see Big Ben and all of the sights. We’ve book an apartment to stay in because there’s going to be 5 of us all together, and now we just need to book train tickets.

That’s really all for this week, until the next…

Sunday Thoughts #18

The weeks are going by so fast, it’s scary. It feel like it was only my birthday yesterday, but it was almost 2 months ago now, where has that time gone? I feel like I’ve blinked and it’s just disappeared.

This week has gone pretty quick, Monday I spent the evening after work dropping off people’s orders. Pretty boring I know, but before I knew it, it was Tuesday and I was on my way to the Sleepy Panda after work with the girls. The Sleepy Panda is a local Chinese restaurant, the four of us headed there for a night of gossip and great Chinese food. It was so nice to sit and talk and now have to worry about the phones ringing. We had a platter for starters, veg in consisted of chicken skewers, seaweed, vegetable spring rolls, and of course, prawn toast and duck pancakes. For my main I had beef in oyster sauce, which was beautiful. It was nice to have a Chinese with veg in for once, whenever Nathan and I have Chinese I have to order it without veg, because Nathan’s so fussy.

Wednesday I visited my dad, after sitting in traffic for half an hour on the way there. I hate traffic, it makes me anxious. Thursday, I chilled at home with Nathan before my 11 hour day of work on Friday. I decided to do some overtime because Nathan was working until 8:30 anyway, so I worked until 8pm before coming home to my girl Lauren at my front door. Which was super nice, because she brought Cadbury’s Pots of Joy – my fave.

Saturday, I spent the afternoon shopping with Ma, as she goes to Portugal (again) next weekend! It was nice to run her around for once, and not her running me around. We had a nice afternoon, I came home and enduldged in a lush bath! Today, I’m going to go and get ready in a minute, and then I’m going to my dads to arrange my brothers birthday next month.

I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week!

Sunday Thoughts #17

Good afternoon my little beauties, I’ve had such a lovely week. Monday through Friday was the norm, work. But Nathan was in Sheffield Wednesday through Friday, so I spent the evenings chilled, working on my beauty business and writing up new post idea’s.

Friday was my TL’s last day in work before she goes on maternity leave, which was emotional even though I have only known her 2 months. We have gotten rather close, and then Friday night work put on a private screening in our local Odeon of Bridget Jones’s Baby. Okay, lets rewind. On Tuesday or Wednesday an email went around in work to see who would be interested in going and then whoever was, simply replied and the names we’re picked out of a hat. Since the screen definitely wouldn’t fit 500+ employees, I think this was a fun way of picking. When we arrived, we had a bag of sweets, popcorn and a drink sitting on our chairs which was a cute little touch.

The film was hilarious, I think I laughed the whole way through. Everyone loves a bit of Bridget on a Friday evening after a long week in work, it was a perfect touch to finish off the week. I haven’t really done much this weekend, Saturday after noon I spent with mumma as usual. She’s having a new kitchen and bathroom fitted in the week so we moved all of the appliances ready as she’s working all week. It was nice to spend some time at home with her.

Today I woke up extremely excited for Christmas, god only knows why I woke up thinking about Christmas. But, it’s so exciting to know that this is going to me mine and Nathan’s first Christmas in our home. We’re going to need to get decorations and a tree, and this made me majorly excited like I want to go decoration shopping now. So I may just do a little internet shopping, and maybe prepare a little post? Or is it too early?

Who cares, I’m going to spend the day on the sofa in my PJ’s, with my blanket and laptop doing copious amounts of internet shopping and pinning idea’s on the wonderful Pinterest.

Sunday Thoughts #16

Firstly, I need to give myself a slap on the wrist or a kick up the backside because I have been so lazy in the blogging world recently. I have been absolutely disgraceful – and it definitely needs to change. I feel like my heart is just not in it at the moment but I don’t really want to take a break because I love it too much. I enjoy writing these posts every week and updating you all on my life. It’s just all of the other parts, I have posts half written in my drafts, pictures taken but not edited – I need to start reading other blogs again to give me the motivation I need. But the truth is, I just haven’t had the time lately and it suuucks big style. I haven’t taken part in chats which, I think, is a massive reason as to why I am not involved – I miss all of you lovelies! So tonight I am making it priority to join as many chats as possible this week to get my mojo back.

Anyway, the highlight of my week was the absolutely gorgeous meal that we went for last night with Nathan and my family for my Step Mum’s birthday. It’s a small restaurant about 20 minutes out of town called Pen Y Bont Farm. It’s a small farmhouse looking restaurant with their own rotisseries to cook the chicken on display. The prices we’re really reasonable – I would say cheap for the quality of the food. I had the Buttermilk Chicken burger with sweet potato fries and it was lush! Like, amazing, it came on a sesame seed bun with 3 southern fried chicken goujon’s, bacon lettuce and tomato. It was beautiful. The staff we’re beyond friendly, bringing drinks to the table before our glass was empty. Customer service at it’s best. I didn’t manage to get any pictures because my phone died before we’d even got there, how disappointing?

The rest of the week has been the norm, all work and not enough play. Today work held a family fun day which looked absolutely amazing, children’s rides, burger and ice cream vans, a sweet stall and lots of games! The weather held out beautifully, and everyone seemed like they were having a ball. I popped down on my break to have a quick look around and it looked like everyone was enjoying it. The one thing I love about my work place is how much the managers care for you, they always have your best interest at heart and I’ve never come across that in a work place before – that’s what makes it so special.

I’m now finishing off this post, whilst tea is cooking – were having steak tonight yummmm. I hope you’ve all had a lovely week, and are ready for the week ahead!
